David Garcés, born in Bilbao (Spain), is the managing director of BU Intesis, HMS Networks division for building automation. He holds an M.Sc. in electrical engineering and an MBA. David has 20 years of experience in factory and building automation, the last six years working for HMS Networks in different positions.
How did you become involved in the Smart Buildings industry?
It started in 2016 as HMS acquired Intesis and entered the Building Automation marketplace.
What excites you about the Smart Buildings industry?
We all live and work in buildings, our work has a direct impact in our lives.
Are there any particular technologies that we should be aware of?
I believe in near future machine learning and artificial intelligence will be disruptive technologies.
What services does your organisation offer?
We offer communication gateways for home and building automation to integrate building equipment such as HVAC into the BAS.
Are people aware of the regulations that they will need to comply with in the near future?
Many manufacturers underestimate the importance of cybersecurity in Smart Buildings.
What are the benefits of a smart building?

Who has been the biggest influence in your career?
One former manager at the start of my career that gave me the chance to develop a project that influenced my career.

Focus always on your customer needs.

Bill Gates because he has a brilliant mind, he created a company from scratch that changed the rules of the game, and at the end he invests all his wealth in solving the biggest challenges for mankind.

I'm a lucky guy who lives in Barcelona.
