Jamie Cameron is the director of digital solutions for Johnson Controls and runs the sales, professional services and partnering efforts for the UK. Jamie’s background is from technology focusing on Big Data and Analytics. He has a passion for delivering innovative and disruptive technologies to challenging business problems.
With a first class degree in Management Science from Loughborough University he is a keen footballer, golfer and kite-surfer.
How did you become involved in the Smart Buildings industry?
I have a background in Data Warehousing & Analytics – about 6 years ago I became fascinated with Smart Buildings after developing my own home system running the entire house on a Raspberry pie.
What excites you about the Smart Buildings industry?
Technology advancements and price points bringing Smart to the mass market
Are there any particular technologies that we should be aware of?
Chatbots/Drones/Robots – as a replacement for secretary & security staff
What services does your organisation offer?
Any Building Technology in a building (except lifts & elevators)
Are people aware of the regulations that they will need to comply with in the near future?
Not enough resources for that yet but the current safety and security regulations will still apply
What are the benefits of a smart building?
Enhanced Occupant Experiences and Comfort within the building, Energy & Maintenance Savings

Stephen Brobst (colleague @ Teradata who was Barrack Obama’s Data Advisor) – “Data is the New Oil”

Who owns the data (the answer is always the customer)
What are the best/worst things about your job?
Best – working with clients. Worst – builders not understanding the value of smart and engineering out the solution to the detriment of the end users
