How did you become involved in the Smart Buildings industry?
Coming into the Emergency lighting industry from something totally unrelated - I was horrified at the number of emergency lights that just did not work correctly, were not maintained and how out of date and inefficient standard practices were for compliance.
What excites you about the Smart Buildings industry?
The Potential - everyone is talking about it - very few are actually getting it done!
Are there any particular technologies that we should be aware of?
Yes - Not all "Connected Mesh" Technology is equal - Ensure that you are working with a secure protocol.

Connected Emergency Lighting - with the potential to build an all embracing IOT mesh in buildings.
Are people aware of the regulations that they will need to comply with in the near future?
Most people are not even aware of the regulations they need to comply with now!

Data - make decision and respond to exceptions from facts.
Who has been the biggest influence in your career?
Too many to name, both good and bad - the challenge is to remember to show gratitude to those that have helped and forgiveness to those that haven't!

With apologies to Colonel "Hannibal" Smith - "I love it when a plan comes together" - The worst "Getting shot of someone who is not fulfilling their potential due to an inability to be accountable"
What advice would you give to someone starting out in the industry?
Learn something new each day - and no-one achieves goals they haven't set!
What living person do you admire and why?
Admire - No, but I am intrigued by Elon Musk - he thinks and operates from first principles, entirely devoid of emotion. Its not me, but I do see some benefits

Home is where you hang your hat - Learn a place's history and you will understand the people - I guess I am Cosmopolitan

I consider the Bible to be one of the greatest books ever written

As a kid I decided to support Everton - TBH it gets me a lot of sympathy!

Graceland - I love the Western/Zulu fusion

Somewhere the sun is shining!
