The well-being of the guests as well as an attractive design is the focus of the family-run luxury resort DAS EDELWEISS, in Grossarltal-Salzburg. This guiding principle also applies to the planning and implementation of the comprehensive reconstruction and extension. In order to meet the newly acquired high standards, the company is relying on the innovative solutions of ABB in the field of building automation for one of the largest hotel construction projects in Austria in recent years.

In two large-scale construction stages, the main building will be completely renovated with a great deal of passion and attention to detail as well as personal commitment, and then supplemented by a new building. Figures such as 150,000m³ of excavated mountain or 1,500 tons of processed iron only give an idea of the extent of the reconstruction. Among others, the electrical planner e engineering | Ingenieurbüro |Sieberer GmbH from Altenmarkt im Pongau, the electrician Fiegl and Spielberger from Innsbruck, the architect Dandler from Sankt Veit and the interior designers Köck and Bachler from Fieberbrunn are responsible for the implementation. The appropriate product solutions for this come from ABB's market-leading building automation portfolio.

Modern design and highest comfort for the guests

In the 145 modern rooms and suites, ABB's Smart Building concept offers maximum comfort for hotel guests while ensuring ease of use. In keeping with the cosy, warm but modern atmosphere of the hotel, the choice fell on the switch material Busch-Jaeger Future Linear colour black matt, in coordination with the interior designers Köck and Bachler, due to its clear, straight-line form. The new ABB tacteo KNX sensor serves as a visually appealing control element for the room temperature. In each suite, around 16 lighting circuits are installed, which are combined into 3 lighting scenes in the living area and 2 lighting scenes in the bathroom to create a cosy ambience. The iNET radios from Busch-Jaeger offer additional luxury. These enable guests to receive radio stations from all over the world via the Internet.

Intelligent building system control with ABB i-bus KNX for owners

In cooperation with the electrical planner e engineering | Ingenieurbüro |Sieberer GmbH, the building services control was implemented using ABB i-bus KNX. KNX is the worldwide open standard for the control of intelligent buildings. This allows all components of lighting, shading, heating, air conditioning and ventilation to be networked and work bidirectionally with each other. In combination with the integrated load management, maximum energy savings can be achieved. The KNX system integrates, among other things, the media technology of the luxury hotel, daylight-dependent lighting control in the office areas, and room temperature and ventilation control. Even the automatic filling of the bathtubs is implemented. With the corresponding app on their mobile phones, staff can call up the status of the building services engineering at any time. In the entire project, over 2,000 KNX devices are integrated on around 70 KNX lines connected via IP.
