Gravesham Council has announced the successful completion of the smart lighting upgrade at Merston Court using the Mymesh platform. This initiative delivers immediate benefits through significant energy savings, carbon reduction, and automated emergency lighting self-testing, improving both sustainability and compliance.
In partnership with Mymesh, the Council supported the innovation of an intelligent retrofit gear tray, enabling smart technology to be readily deployed into existing lighting assets. This collaborative approach reduced installation complexity and costs while ensuring minimal disruption for tenants.
Importantly, the upgrade also establishes a secure digital backbone across the building, enabling future services such as temperature and humidity monitoring within dwellings to help identify and mitigate the risk of damp and mould at an early stage, supporting the requirements of Awaab’s Law.
The Merston Court project forms part of a wider programme to upgrade all Council housing assets with Mymesh Smart Lighting, ensuring our estate is future-ready and digitally connected. This investment will not only enhance building performance but also deliver better, safer, and more responsive services for our tenants.
"The smart lighting upgrade at Merston Court cuts energy, reduces carbon, and improves safety. Working with Mymesh, we introduced a retrofit solution with minimal disruption, while creating a digital backbone to help tackle issues like damp and mould under Awaab’s Law. This is the first step in delivering safer, smarter homes across Gravesham
