KNX UK has revealed the winners of its 2016 awards scheme, presented at its AGM at the British Library, London.
The awards celebrate excellence in the design and application of KNX technology – the open standard for building control – in residential, commercial and public building projects. This year’s scheme attracted more entries than ever before and featured a range of high quality installations completed by KNX UK members around the world.
Sagar Smart Homes collected the Residential Installation of the Year prize for its Melbourne Super Home.
The KNX Awards became a huge success for Sagar Smart Homes as it also came away with the Best Project for a Developer award for Artisan 1 Goodge Street, Fitzrovia. This collection of 13 luxury apartments required a fully functional, scalable solution. KNX offered the backbone for the flats and communal areas, controlling all lighting, heating, cooling, blinds and plant room.
The most hotly contended category this year, Commercial Installation of the Year, was awarded to Entech for its work at the University of Leicester – New Medical Centre. The building is the UK’s largest non-residential project built to the ultra-energy efficient Passivhaus standard. KNX has allowed this to be achieved though control of the heating, lighting, solar radiation, CO2 and natural ventilation. This particular project also won Theben the award for Public Sector Project of the Year.
Siemens Building Technologies won KNX Product of the Year for an impressive second year in a row, this time for its OCI702 USB Interface. This product can be used on a project to work alongside other USB interfaces to allow engineering, testing and diagnostics to be carried out. It can also speed up and simplify the testing of KNX devices from any manufacturer.
The final award belonged to GES Digital Ltd as KNX UK Integrator of the Year. Throughout 2015, the company has completed some outstanding projects, such as The Paddocks in London, recognised within the residential category as a very close contender for the top prize. The recent additions to its portfolio of parallel solutions, maintaining KNX as the core solution, have enabled clients to have complete confidence in GES Digital Ltd’s approach.
“We are delighted with the success of this year’s scheme, with twice the entries we had last year. This demonstrates the growth of KNX within the UK year on year. Each winner was very deserving in their category and showed a real understanding of the capabilities of KNX. We are looking forward to another record breaking scheme next year!” commented Iain Gordon, President of KNX UK.
