The Building Controls Industry Association (BCIA) will be leading discussions on the crucial importance of utilising technology in smart building design at this year’s Smart Buildings Show – hosting two thought-provoking panel debates.
As anticipation builds towards this highly informative two-day event, set to take place on Wednesday 15th October and Thursday 16th October at ExCeL London, the BCIA is pleased to announce it will be holding a panel discussion, focusing on ‘Unlocking the Benefits of High-Performing Buildings’.
The panel, hosted by BCIA president Stacey Lucas, will see Ciaran Kelly, associate director of building intelligence at Hoare Lee, Matthew Marson, managing director at JLL, and Neil Fright, CEO at Carbon Numbers, come together to assess the possibilities that await facilities managers and occupiers eager to harness the full potential of their buildings.
With the BCIA set to release its technical paper, entitled ‘Comfort, Efficiency and Health: The untapped Potential of Building Energy Management Systems for a Net Zero Future’, the thought-provoking panel discussion will identify the spectrum of benefits from implementing building controls, such as improved operational efficiencies, energy cost savings and enhanced occupant comfort.
Those in attendance will gain real insights into how to control building performance and boost its value for everyone involved. For those curious about BEMS, looking to enhance sustainability efforts or connect with industry peers, this discussion is not one to be missed.
The BCIA-hosted panel discussion will take place between 2.45pm and 3.20pm in the Controls & Networks Theatre on Wednesday 15th October.
BCIA’s Young Engineers Network (YEN) is aimed at those under the age of 35 and is a network which provides a platform for young BEMS professionals. The second day of the Smart Buildings Show will see the BCIA Young Engineers Network (YEN) holding its own panel discussion entitled ‘Workplaces Reimagined: Smart, Inclusive and Built for Every Generation.’
Featuring Stan Thomas, YEN Vice Chair, Chris Edgington, Associate Director at Arup, Zoe Dickson, Project Sales Engineer at SSE Energy Solutions, Dawn Helsby, Early Careers Development Lead at Schneider Electric and Alan Williamson Package Manager at Multiplex Construction Europe. The panel will explore how intergenerational collaboration, smart technology and inclusive design can enable the creation of workplaces that enhance comfort, productivity and sustainability.
Aside from its two panel discussions, the BCIA will also have a stand on both days of the exhibition. Members of the team will be on hand to discuss the importance of building controls and explain the association’s role in the sector, so make sure you visit Stand A21 on either day.
Taking place on Wednesday 15th October and Thursday 16th October 2025, the Smart Buildings Show looks set to feature a whole host of fascinating and thought-provoking talks, seminars and debates. Offering incredible networking opportunities, with many of the industry’s leading decision makers likely to be in attendance, this flagship exhibition is not one to be missed.
