Spica Technologies is developing a workplace experience app for Mace, which will initially be available at the international consultancy and construction business's global headquarters in London, UK.

This new offering builds upon previous work Spica and Mace have done together deploying a workspace occupancy and environmental monitoring solution utilising Spica's core GemEx Digital Twin platform. Benefiting from Spica's external systems integration expertise the solution will be integrating with Microsoft 365, however it can also integrate with any resource booking system. The focus is to support a safe working environment for Mace employees and their return to work.

Simon Hilton, Spica digital workplace consultant commented: “Spica are delighted to continue our partnership with Mace. With desk booking technology now an essential tool in workplaces to support a COVID-safe working environment, it was important we could meet Mace’s requirements for their employees. Working closely with all Mace workplace stakeholders and offering a flexible integration model, meant we could provide Mace with a customised app solution specific to their needs, and on-site business systems. Building upon Spica’s existing GemEx Engine workplace platform means Mace can also monitor their space utilisation with accurate data and manage their workspace more dynamically and flexibly.”

The app will be fully customised to embrace Mace’s corporate brand, whilst being personalised to the individual user. This integrated digital solution will enable Mace employees working at Moorgate to pre-book designated socially distanced desks.

The solution enables the control of workspace capacity, ability to flexibly reduce workplace density, and support social distancing management.

All services will be augmented with the Internet of Things sensor infrastructure in place at Moorgate to provide powerful resource booking capability via a seamless holistic app interface. In addition, Mace’s corporate real estate and facilities management teams will benefit from a wealth of data, to provide service improvements supported by an in-depth analysis of how employees are using the building and space.

Maud Santamaria, workplace experience director- facilities at Mace said: "Mace’s first priority is always the health, safety and wellbeing of colleagues. The app ensures we can create a welcoming, safe and productive environment for people who need to work in our office. It ensures we can effectively manage and monitor social distancing requirements and continue to improve the COVID-security of our workplaces. Spica has worked with us to tailor a solution, understanding our specific needs, and brilliantly translating these into a digital tool that meets all our requirements"
